This is a quality lift for anyone who is looking for daily driver capabilities with high quality off-road abilities. We installed this lift about 5 months ago and have been pleasantly surprised by it every time we put it to the test. We are currently running this setup with 33” tires on 17 inch wheels.
Installation: The install is pretty straight forward and takes anywhere from 4-6 hours depending on your skill level. There are two things I recommend if you decided to purchase this kit:
- Buy new sway bars or sway bars with quick disconnects. The kit comes with sway bar extenders which for a daily driver would be fine; however, if you plan to take your Jeep off the pavement and flex it on rocks, I personally wouldn’t recommend them.
- Purchase exhaust spacers if you have a 2012+ model.
After the install we gained about 3 inches with the stock bumpers on our Jeep. With aftermarket front and rear bumper this kit will sit perfectly at 2.5 inches, leaving plenty of room if you choose to run 33s or 35s.
Ride Quality on Road: The Bilstein 5100 shocks that came with this kit are a joy for on road driving. When we removed the stock shocks off our Jeep to put in the Bilsteins, which only had 10,000 miles on them at the time, we compressed them down and they did not come back out. With the Bilstein 5100 shocks they were much stiffer and when compressed they decompressed at a nice rate unlike the stock shocks. One of the best things that has happened since the install is when we hit bumps its not as bouncy as before. The shocks compress perfectly when we hit speed bumps at the mall parking lots. As far as gas mileage goes for daily driving, we saw a slight decrease of 1-2 miles per gallon. However, this could have been caused by the wider, and heavier tires that were installed at the same time.
Ride Quality Off-Road: We put this lift kit to the test recently on a trip to Morris Mountain ORV Park; the capability of this lift off-road was more than impressive. We were able to ride all day with this lift with no problems. When climbing rocky hills the lift showed its ability to flex with the OEM control arms.
We currently do not have lockers, and we had no problem running on blue trails there. We are currently running this lift with 33s and no bump stops. When fully flexed, we do not bottom out any of the shocks, springs or rub against the stock fenders. The ride quality over rocks when off-roading is great. The Bilstein 5100 shocks went over rocks smoothly and allowed us to keep proper throttle response to conquer obstacles on the trails.
